Uncertain which tab you want to visit?

Check out the definitions and links below.

  • Novel: A fictitious prose narrative a considerable length and complexity, portraying characters and usually presenting a sequential organization of action and scenes. Word count for novels varies based on genre and the age of the intended audience. Check out this Writer's Digest article for a good overview of word count targets.

  • Short story: A piece of prose fiction, usually under 10,000 words. Visit tor.com to see some great examples of science fiction and fantasy short stories.

  • Flash fiction: A style of literature in which stories are extremely short; length depends on the publication, but is usually 1,500 words or less. Visit this webpage for some of my favorite flash fiction.

  • What I'm Reading: This page is where I list all the books I am currently reading, why I'm reading them, and what I hope to be reading next. Reading is, after all, as important to an author as writing is.

If you're curious about what I'm thinking, head on over to my blog for a look at book reviews, philosophical musings on writing, and pretty much anything else that occurs to me as I am writing or procrastinating writing.
